You probably think of sushi, tempura, or ramen, but of course, we Japanese don’t eat these every day.
Japan is very open to embracing foreign cultures, absorbing them, and evolving them into new forms of food culture unique to Japan.
A typical example is curry. Originally an Indian dish, It is said that Japanese curry became popular when curry powder was introduced from Britain in the Meiji era, but it has since become something entirely different from the original Indian curry.
Interestingly, this Japanese-style curry seems to be well-received in India, with Japanese curry restaurants even expanding into the country.
I will also be introducing lesser-known dishes like this, so I hope you’ll give them a try when you visit Japan.
